I know what you're thinking. “Josh, it's winter. Dollywood is closed. Why would we go visit?” It sounds like you're battling PDCS (Post Dollywood Closure Sadness). If you think that Dollywood and Pigeon Forge take a break in the winter, you are sadly mistaken! While the main gates may be closed and the parks are full of more construction equipment than people, there still is plenty to do at Dollywood Resorts and the surrounding area. Let me share your options for a winter trip to the Smokies.
Dollywood's DreamMore Resort and Spa is THE place to be for any music lover this time of year. The themed resort is playing host to its second annual Winter Music Series from this weekend through March 3. Artists like The Young Fables, T. Graham Brown, Marty Haggard and more are set to entertain guests each weekend. Our parks' off-season is an ideal time to snag some deals on resort stays.
Colder weather doesn't take away from the natural beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains, and there is one option to see the mountains without getting too chilly. Pink Jeep Adventure Tours operates no matter the season and is a great way for groups to experience the Smokies together. With a Pink Jeep guide and covered/heated Jeep, entire parties no matter the age, ability or willingness to hike are able to see Dollywood's surrounding picturesque landscape with ease.
While Dollywood has more than 50 attractions spread across its 165 acres, it is not the only thing to do in Pigeon Forge. When the parks are open and lively, there are so many things to do in one day, that many of the area attractions are overlooked. Winter is the perfect time to take advantage of Dollywood getting some work done to check out the rest the Smokies has to offer.
